High June Live at Oxbow – A Night That Woke the Room

Reviewed by Boz, Garage Fly Radio

Last night at Oxbow in Portland, Maine, something rare happened — a room full of strangers suddenly remembered what live music is supposed to feel like. No pretense. No ego. Just pure, unfiltered sound that hits you straight in the chest. High June walked onto that small stage with the confidence of a band twice their age, and within minutes they owned the night.

High June doesn’t fit neatly into a genre box, and maybe that’s why the crowd leaned forward instead of drifting back. Their sound is an honest mix of gritty alt-rock, southern edges, classic rock warmth, and something uniquely theirs — something you feel more than define.

Jack Flowers, the band’s frontman, sang like a man with a story to tell. His vocals cut right through the noise, landing somewhere between soulful grit and youthful fire. Whether he was belting into the mic or stepping back to let the guitar take over, he held the room effortlessly.

The guitars were a force all their own — Will Sain on lead with riffs that sliced through the air, and James Barbee on rhythm, giving the songs their backbone and swagger. Their chemistry was unmistakable, especially in the moments when the lights hit just right and the two of them locked in together.

The heartbeat of the band came from Hayden Church on drums, whose heavy-metal background gave every song a deeper punch. And Ryon Gerringer on bass kept the low end steady and driving, supporting the melodies with a pulse the crowd could feel in their feet.

From the first chord to the final note, they played like they meant it.

At one point, Jukebox leaned toward me and said, “These boys aren’t playing local — they’re playing like they’re already on tour.” And he was right. High June didn’t just perform; they transported the room into a bigger space, a bigger moment. You could feel the future in them — the kind of future that starts in bars and small stages before exploding into something far larger.

This wasn’t just a show.
This was a reminder that music is alive, and bands like High June are the proof.

We were honored to be there — and even more honored to bring these moments back home to Garage Fly Radio, straight from our hearts to yours.

High June is a band to watch. A band to follow.
And if you ever get the chance to see them live, don’t think twice.
Just go.

James Barbee / Rythm Guitarist

With rhythmic sensibility inspired by Led Zeppelin and The Eagles, James Barbee anchors the band’s sound with groove and subtlety. His rhythm work provides the foundation that lets the other members soar

Ryan Gerringer / Bass

Ryon Gerringer shapes the low end with attitude and groove, fusing influences from Nirvana and Stone Temple Pilots. His bass lines drive the band’s momentum and add a deep sonic dimension to every track

HAYDEN CHURCH / DRUMMER

From heavy-metal beginnings with bands inspired by Slipknot and Breaking Benjamin, Hayden Church brings raw power and precision behind the kit. His thunderous snare hits and dynamic fills give High June its driving heartbeat.

Jack Flowers / Lead Vocals

Jack Flowers stands at the helm of High June, delivering vocals that range from mid-night whisper to full-throttle rock roar.
